Just heard the BC gov is thinking of this. The proverbial pooh will hit the blades over this. It takes too long to process drunk drivers, the court delays are appalling and the penalties often laughable. Those are the reasons there is an increase in cases clogging courts. Where injury or death occurs there should be seizure of vehicle and it should be sold at auction. You never get a licence again. If a license is suspended - clamp the friggin' wheels. Everyone I've ever known that had a licence suspension continued to drive. Even if caught the penaly never increased.

Yeah that's about right, now I've driven when I was questionable in my past (not for a long time) but hey if I did it well I pay the price. The problem is a REALLY slow expensive justice system and I don't like the idea of reducing penalties to save money...

To me it would be an easy thing to enforce: you get caught driving over the limit, you'd get your license revoked for 2 years and your car reposessed.
No need to go to court, it would just be a matter of having a relatively foolproof alcohol meter and have a zero tolerance policy.
