Credit card declined - is there a work around?

I just tried to renew my membership in a popular SB site where I had been a member for years, and my credit card was declined, probably because of the type of site. Is there a work around, or am I just out of luck?

Call your credit card company, and tell them this charge is legitimate.
They do not know you and are probably across the country from you anyway, so who cares what they think of the site.
You'd be surprised. I happened to deal with a customer service rep for CIBC who turned out to be someone a work friend of mine was dating. She recognized my name, but couldn't remember from where.

Some of the sites are trying to get people away from charging their credit cards and want you to make a deposit of cryptocurrency

Just like a burner phone, some people keep a small free savings account at a different bank than their main card, that uses the other brand of major credit card. Very useful to have a backup card, especially when travelling or declined or card lost/stolen.

US banking laws can affect credit card use for sexual services.
It could also be that legally people can dispute charges on their credit cards. Crypto, not so much. You can claim to your credit card company that you never received services you paid for.

It’s because of the site. Some of my advertising sites don’t take credit cards at all. I have to pay in crypto. Tryst doesn’t take visa but will take Mastercard. One of my Mastercards, I have to call them every time I try to use it to ok the transaction. My other credit card goes through just fine tho. Most banks and all credit card companies are not sex work friendly.

You might try the online chat function with the bank / cc company. They’re mostly AI now so you won’t accidentally talk with someone you know. But it may very well be the site in question thats the problem.

I’ve been using the Mastercard Cash Passport for all SB related activities, and it worked just fine on my last renewal on the SB site. It’s a prepaid but so far seems to be accepted like any other Mastercard at hotels and online. I Hope that continues, but I’m expecting that may change with SB sites. As Westwoody and Harmony have said the CC companies are increasingly unfriendly to sex work of any kind.

When asking for cryto currency its likely they want to avoid taxes, where you are. Depending on where site is located.
The other side of the coin is are you using a VPN?

Leolist used to offer credit cards. Over the years, they would run into all kinds of credit card problems. One day they’d take visa. Then they couldn’t but they’d take master card. Then they couldn’t take any as they found another platform to use for credit cards. Then they’d be back to allowing credit cards again. A few years ago, they went crypto only. So I don’t think it was for tax purposes. I’m sure they probably lose out on some money, not having a convenient way to pay. Credit card companies hate sex work. Also with our laws around sex with, it makes it hard for places to advertise to do business.

This is a result of Anti Human Trafficking measures....I have been fighting this for some time now....we maybe making some headway....time will tell I guess but more and more adult businesses and workers are being excluded from business tools including banking...
