I am in the market for a new monitor for my home computer.
Looking for a 19 inch screen.
in the 200 to 280 buck range, I can go a bit higher.

LG? Samsung? Benq? Viewsonic?

Any advice will be helpful.

Or where to buy Antiec on kingsway is my fav place to buy comp stuff
NCIX? Future shop?

Thanks

If you like to watch DVD's on you system consider a wide screen format.

This BenQ FP202W (Black) 20.1" WideScreen TFT-LCD seems to be within your price range and on top of that you get 20.1" screen.

However, this Acer AL2223Wd (Black/Silver) 22" Widescreen LCD
5ms, 1680x1050, 800:1 Contrast, 0.282mm, DVI & VGA is a hell of a deal for a 22" if you want go go big.

Recently picked up the 225bw from Samsung. Its a little out of your price range, but its a great monitor. 22".

Anitec on Kingsway, not sure if they are still there. Did a delivery near there last week and saw a for lease sign on that store. :( too bad as it was good competition to ncix. Maybe they moved.

Now a days you might wanna make sure any monitor you buy is HDCP compliant.

Anitec moved very close to a massage parlor On Kingsway / Nanaimo area, across from Canadian Tire. New store looks amazing.
Futureshop computer parts = ripoff (or any large chain store)

Samsung SyncMaster 225BW, got it for Christmas from my ATF and it's great. Came with DVI-D and HDCP cables. Very good for videos and games as well as just looking at porn jpegs. Samsung, HP and Acer all use glass made by Sharp.

Not that it means anything, buut I had trouble with a viewsonic. I have had good results with Samsung. Now running Mac. Everything about it is better than anything fucking Microcrap ever put out. Monitor is great.

Generally I've found Samsung, Viewsonic and Acer to be pretty reliable. Especially the Viewsonics and Samsungs. Widescreen is definitely something to think about and if you play video games at all you will want a low response time. (say 5ms or less)

Good luck! WS.

That Acer I pointed out got 5ms response time and 22" wide all for under $400. In fact it looks really good to me I may consider taking a look at it for my next monitor upgrade.

Should take a look at www.dell.ca. They sell 20 inch widescreens for under $300 shipped (before taxes though).

Honestly, 20inch wide is almost a standard now considering how prices have fallen for LCD monitors.

20inch (wide) resolution: 1680x1050 pixels
19inch (standard) resolution: 1280x1024 pixels

You end up with a lot more desktop space.

Oo..that one looks nice.

I just picked up a Viewsonic VX2235 22" Widescreen from Staples for $469 that is quite delicious. I had some gift certs, so the price didn't matter too much, but that Acer looks nice.

I upgraded from a 19" Viewsonic CRT and I must say that widescreen lcd is the way to go.

Yup, I'm stiking with wide screens from now on. There not just great for movies but really useful for viewing wed pages.
