Me and a friend made up this trade to spice things up for Vancouver.

Vancouver Canucks
Roberto Luongo, Henrik & Daniel Sedin

To

NY Islanders
Kyle Okposo , #1 Overall Pick John Taveras and 2ndround #1 pick

With rookie goaltenders and there success nowadays, why not risk it for Corey Schneider and get younger and Save a whole lot of money in Cap space with the releases of those Veteran players for the upcoming stars

Lets see with new contracts to the sedins at probably 5 mill each, thats 16 Million in 3 players. If we went with this deal we could possibly sign all our picks for 10 million. Save 6 million and get a big name free agent

The Islanders don't do this because the Sedins are UFAs and their value is close to worthless without contracts attached to them. 1 yr of Luongo won't net you 1st overall. Even if they add those pieces they are not contenders. Also, in case you forgot, the Isles signed a pretty good goalie to a 15 yr contract not too long ago!

You and your friend doesn't make very good armchair GMs. Sedins are UFAs as someone else has already pointed out. Signing the Sedins are going to cost a lot more than 5 mil each. The Islanders was the team that drafted Luongo in the 1st round with the 4th overall pick in 1997, so I doubt they would want to go down that road again.

In summary your trade proposal amounts to trading 2 UFAs and a player with one year left on his contract before he becomes an UFA for one of the Islanders' top prospect, their 1st (1st overall) and second round pick. Charles Wang and Garth Snow may be stupid but not that stupid.

I just had to look at that trade a couple moments.

Picture being Snow...

...."hey garth, we will give you the sedins...both of them...they aren't signed, so you will have to figure that out yourself.......oh and we will give you luongo too......he has 1 year left, so you might wanna think about resigning him too.....we won't be doing that for you......he has also talked publically about wanting to play for a contender.....so you guys should have no problem signing him.....contenders the islanders sure are (dead last in the league was a fluke)!!

oh and we want your first overal pick and your second pick......oh yeah and okposo too.....we want to keep this fair."

How could the Islanders possible turn this gem down.

hey dude, don't be jealous; that was such a stupid trade, not even could I dream this!!! hahaha...that's the irritating thing about CH, they think we can just dump 'junk' onto others...and yes, Luongo is a choker, as proven a 2nd time in this year's playoffs...

the swedish cheese are useless garbage..no one can win with them, they've done jack all in this league, no stanley cups or winning scoring titles...yes, trackie can go hold their jockstraps ;)

I don't know what's worse, your lame posts or your writing skills  Did you have to drop out of grade 9 because of the great depression or did they not have grade 10 back in your day?

While you're at it, might as well ask Pittsburgh for Crosby and Malkin in exchange for the twins and Luongo.

Honestly. Everyone knows they're crap. Why on God's good earth do you think you would get anyone of value for them?

Dude, you're lucky you're not living in this gorgeous city that's tainted w/ fans like Trackie and HubbaCubba. These bandwagaon specialists will still say that the Sedins are worth something, and the Luongo's gonna have his breakout playoff year---oh, wasn't this past playoff year, that's the one the media was hyping on, eh? lol

Fort macguy, get used to idiotic comments of such trade proposals, thank goodness they don't work for our media, we've got enough babies sucking on their thumbs, these homers have nothing else better to do than to misguide the bandwagons into thinking we actually have a great team.

Good team at best during the regular season, and an average team in the playoffs. Just like what I've been saying all along BEFORE this past season started.

when you've got the Swedish cheese as your top offensive threats, and Mitchell as your shut down D man, any team is going to be in trouble.

Like it or not, this team needs the Sedins.

Hogdson #2 center!! There we're set. Man is this guy for real? I'm waiting for him to get off the fourth line on the Moose, that'd be incredible.

Luongo, he wants a chance to win, how can he go anywhere that can win and expect 8mil/year? Well the media is saying that. We've got some good pieces, give us a discount! Schneider is scary. Is he really good or not?

Why are you commenting in a hockey thread, when it's clear you don't follow hockey?
I was commenting on your "pretty good goalie" comment... since Dipietro's signed that deal, his team's had point years of 78, 92, 79, and 61 points...

...which earned the

He didn't look too good when he was here when Luongo was injured.

so unless you like to overrate his junior/farm team experience, I wouldn't hold my breath. it's not like he was in high demand at the trading deadline, not a hot prospect;

just bandwagons like yourself who get so excited at the few and far in between prospects this organization can ever draft properly, we wouldn't be in the mess that we're in.

Compared to Detroit and Montreal, our scouting department's a friggin' joke. Why do you think Gillis had to go out and sign so many free agents? he literally added almost 2 full lines, b/c we got jack all from our farm system.

He's signed:

1. Demitra
2. Bernier
3. Wellwood
4. Sundin

So quit hopping around in glee, thinking that Schneider's hot, or Hodgson for that matter. You might as well start hoping that Jason Herter, Libor Poladink, Jim Sandlaks' coming back ;)

Here is an interesting trade proposal that I thought of and might be a possibility. We have Cody Hodson, CHL player of the year, etc. etc.
Would it be possible from both sides that the nucks trade Hodgson for the 1st or 2nd overall pick in this years draft, meaning we would get Tvares or Victor Hedman, who is suppose to be the next Chris Pronger? Cody is going to be a good player, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. He's going to be a future captain but I see he's stats of someone like a Trevor Linden. 25 to 30 goal scorer tops.

All the nucks need to do to win is the following three things:

1. Resign Sundin. Although fans were unhappy with him, the fact is, he made everyone around him play better, and try harder. When he got his game on, he was unstoppable. Think back to the start of the year, we were the laughing stock of the league, and expected to finish 26th overall. we sign sundin, we all of a sudden were a cup contender.

2. Fire our Coach. Up 1-0, in the third period, sat back for the whole third period. They score, we keep sitting back. Terrible. Tottally outcoached. Game 5, same thing, 2-2 tie in the third, we sit on our asses. Any time we went for it, we dominated.

3. Fire our GM, and Hire a proven NHL WINNER. Not a proven AHL Winner, nothing else. Our GM thinks our coach deserves another contract. Anyone who thinks this should be HOMELESS!

If we get Sundin back, and a good coach, not great, but even just good, we have got a great shot at a cup

Whe the Canucks sign the free agents that they want to keep, there will not be enough room under the cap to sign Sundin. If he was to stay in Vancouver, he would have to take a salary drop equivalent to a 3rd string centre, which I really doubt he would do. I don't think anyone else here would agree that Sundin was unstoppable. Had trouble stopping maybe, but not unstoppable.

So, fire the coach and GM and hire who? Winning coaches and GM's are already on winning teams

well it sounds like you know nothing from the player side of the nhl. He had more points then Taylor Pyatt who gets just under 5 million, but no1 complains about him. He really only got his game back in the last 3 games, where he was making things happen but it was too late by then, and thats fine. Hes already said money wont be the main concern. I have played in the AHL for 3 years, and have dressed 60 games in the NHL, been called up for 73. There are some great coaches out there. We should have been going after pat quinn, but the Oilers beat us to it. Peter Laviolet is out there. Stanley Cup Winner, Pat Burns, Larry Robinson, and Scotty Bowman. Although, Bowman and Burns would take a lot to lure back, but there out there. The problem with the NHL is a common fan doesnt really know the game. Mike Gillis?? Come on. There were a lot better choices of GM's out there. But hes only a year in, so ya, give him the benefit of the doubt. The Current coach MUST i repeat MUST go. if he stays, we'll never win a cup. About Sundin, like i said, it wasnt what he did. When he signed with the canucks, the team was sitting in 6th place, and had been inconsistant all year. after 9 or 10 games, giving him time to fit in and find his way with the right wingers, you saw the emergences of Ryan Kesler. Not many people remember that before Sundin came, Kesler was playing 4th line icetime, 3rd if he was lucky. He got second string icetime, and began to excel with a player of Sundins calibre. Canuck fans are way too hard on Mats. I understand that you really have no understanding from the players prespective, as you really would have needed to have spent time at that level to get a feel for it. I make jokes about people too when I dont understand things. hey, its natural. but try looking at the team before sundin and after sundin and maybe you can see how much better off with him we were then without. Before sundin, we had one line. Sundin completed our second line, made our third line stronger by allowing Bernier or Welwood to go down, made our fourth line stronger allowing somone to go down. Before Sundin, if the sedins had a bad night, the canucks usually didnt win.
