On Thursday night, Montreal traded Cammalleri, as well as goaltender Karri Ramo and fifth round pick in the 2012 NHL Draft to the Calgary Flames for forwards Rene Bourque, Patrick Holland a second round pick in 2013.

Cammalleri was pulled out of Thursday's game against the Boston Bruins after the second period and sent back to the hotel amid reports of the potential trade.

He spoke out publicly about how their team was not playing as a team. That was his downfall.

Dumb trade IMHO. He was a good player for the Habs.

he was supposed to have a good relationship with iggy and company and liked clagary when he was here,

it was more of a cap issue that they didn't keep him they just signed jay bouwmeester i believe there was no cap room

i guess we shall see how it all plays out

don't know the flames aren't done for trades.

i think its interesting the goalie they got in the trade,he is supposed to be very good,
if he works out kipper might be up for a trade

Was watching the first two periods of the flames game last night. They mustered like 6 shots in that time frame so they need some offense.

The Flyers got rid of their two star cancers before the start of the season and they've been doing good even without Pronger.

It was a brillant move for the Habs. They hoodwinked the shit of out of Calgary here. They got the same/similar goals for 3 million less a year (Bourque is 3 m less than Cammalleri), they traded a goalie and a 5 rounder for a prospect and a second rounder. GREAT trade for the habs, freed up 3 mill in cap space (capgeek says they now have 8 mill in space before the trade deadline) and they got rid of a cancer. If you are a Calgary fan, I would be pissed.

See what Bob McKenzie says: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=384950
Agreed somewhat but Cammy was clutch in the playoffs...

On the other hand, this signals the end of Bob Gainey's smurf experiment which is a good thing. I hope Gionta is back by the trading deadline, he might be valuable to contenders. Next season, they will either trade Gomez (teams desperate to get to the cap floor might bite) or bury him in the minors.

Well if they get rid of all their smurfs, then who will play for Montreal other than the 'past their prime' and 3rd/4th line players looking for a job. I saw a game there last year and that team was pretty hard to stomach. To make things worse, they got nothing coming up the pipe line to look forward to.

God forbid but maybe they need to bring in Patrick Roy into the fold :)

I was quite surprised by the trade actually....Rene Borque has done very well since the Flames aquired him....as a fan I was really pissed off that Cammalleri was pretty much disposed of because of the signing of Boumeester.....IMO Calgary should not have signed Boumeester and have should have kept Cammalleri....and also the Flames should not have done that stupid dumb fuck trade with Toronto for Phaneuf.....I fully support the trading of Phaneuf but not to Toronto for useless players...if they are not scoring for Toronto they wont be putting pucks into the mesh in Calgary....and they didn't.....just reinforces my credo of "no trades with the Leafs" since that god-awful fucked up Gary Leeman multi player swap carnage.

As for how it will work out with Cammalleri who knows....if he gets put on the same line as Iginla and they get back to how they were playing before it could produce some very good results that propel the Flames into the playoffs...at the very least we got a goaltending prospect who is probably better than Luongo LOL
