I live in Vancouver and I voted for Jim Green myself. I don't think he is that great as a candidate... but I think he was the best one running. Ultimately that is what democracy is: you have a responsibility to vote for the candidate that you think is best, out of the people that put their names forward. No sense crying about not having a perfect mayor.
I voted for a few other people in the other categories too, but I didn't max out my number of people I could vote for. I like Peter Ladner, so I voted for him for council... but mostly I wanted to not vote for all the dumb people like Ellen Woodsworth, Tim Louis, Fred Bass, David Cadman, etc. Fuck, I hope all the freakishly-far-left-wing people go away this time.
I also voted for the city to be able to borrow more money, the thing on the other side of the ballot. I think there is a risk, but the economy is doing well in B.C. right now and we need to invest in civic instrastructure while we can still afford it.
So how did you vote?
Surrey people... did you vote to punt McCallum?
