So. We are in for a whole week of hot weather. It has been hot for a while now. That storm Saturday night was only a very short break,

I am lucky that the townhouse development I have lived in for the past 15 years has a large
outdoor swimming pool. I have been spending as much time as I can working my tan and jumping in the pool to cool off.
It is nice not to have to fight off the crowds at kits pool.
I also went and bought a few fans to cool the house.
Sleeping at night will be a bit of a challenge.

I actually vacuumed and cleaned house naked today.
Lucky that the print shop where I work has a really good ac system.

What are you doing to deal with the heat?

A/C and fans in the home!! Get ready for this week because we're suppose to get the hottest heat wave to date here in van.
Well, the third one since record keeping has been in place. The only other long heat waves were 2004 and 1928:eek:. We'll see how this one plays out.

Already now at 7am it's too hot for me with the humidity in place thanks to the rain and storm on Saturday night. I'm not looking forward to this afternoon with the temperature feeling more like 36!:eek:

...only 57 days 'till Fall. I can't wait!:p

I've been swimming in the ocean around Stanley Park and in Kits.

I've got a couple of new fans for my house.

Other than that, just enjoying the hot weather that will be gone before we know it :)

OMG. I could NEVER do that. Our pacific waters are WAAAAY too cold. If the water temps aren't 28C (83F) or higher, my ass or even my legs ain't going any where near the water. I guess I belong in the southern USA. :D

It's been a cool summer in Winnipeg so far. Haven't used the AC much at all..
.
Do you mean that all the snow has actually already melted in Winterpeg????

That would explain why you haven't used your AC (Arctic Cat) snow mobile much at all.:D

I know everyone complains about the hot weather, but I much prefer this to 4 ft of snow.
I'd say the storm was pretty muggy as well

I'm debating on whether to sleep naked or not..

I'm debating whether I should go to work tomorrow or call in sick and go to the beach. In this heat, most of us can't sleep any ways and I don't have A/C in my flat. I wonder how the dogs and cats are doing that are locked up in people's apartments.

30 Degree apartment

This is really fucken bad. I have to find a portable A/C unit. I'm draped in a wet towel to try to keep cool. Any one know who's got any portable units available?

Thank god, I thoughtI was the only one!
No, you are not but there ARE very few of us.

I am not crazy about heat and less crazy about extreme heat, to say the least. Over 24 and I crave for Fall. I LOVE Fall!:):):):) Summer is Meh! Too hot!:(

Yesterday though was tops! Too much! A record 34 degrees at YVR. Glad I was off work! Last night as I was driving to East Vancouver to get groceries, my car thermometer registered 36 degrees...at 9pm!

I don't have air conditioning so when I got back to my apartment at English Bay, it was a scorching 41 degrees inside, so I turned up the fan, cracked opened a Stella and watched the UK perform their magic with their show of fireworks in complete darkness. Spectacular! THE best show I've seen thus far. Not even Italy's show with Dean Martin's "Volare" in 2006 was comparable and last week's show with the music of "The Wizard of Oz" was spectacular, but still, a close second.

UK's show was majestic with music by Ricard Wagner, Elgar's "Pomp and Circumstance" and "Romanza" plus the finale piece with the bagpipes which has been performed yearly at an Edinburgh Military festival for 30 years, according to the news. The heat just didn't matter anymore! Until I ran out of Stella and cracked open another one! And perhaps a third...

Luckily I also have a large fan in the bedroom which is cranked to the max. I slept well, but I still can't wait for those beautiful, cool and colourful days of Fall.

Only 54 days left!:)

Keeping my fans on 24/7 doesnt seem to help me much..
Sleeping naked draped with a wet towel helps a bit though

It is hot in many places up and down the West coast. It is what you are used to and where you are.

Seattle had its all time hotest day yesterday, 102 (39). How do you guys compare to that? And how low has the humidity been. When combined with high temperatures a high humidity (around 90%) can make an 85 degree day seem unbearable. I just checked your weather and your temp is 34 and so is the humidity. That I would consider pretty nice. Ask anybody who has spent a summer in Atlanta or Wash DC. They would probably be wearing sweaters if they had your conditions.

Always keep in mind that the west coast as a rule has much lower humidity than other places in the East and SE US.

I remember growing up on the east coast and one day we had a baseball game. As I left for the game I heard that the temp was 100 degrees and the relative humidity was 98%. Man, that was nasty.
