Aquaria Grande is an incredible project by Hong Kong-based architect James Law. The skyscraping residential complex has an outstanding and eye-popping feature, swimming pools instead of balconies! The building is intended for Mumbai, India, and will be developed by Indian real estate company Wadhwa Group, its comprised of two 37-story towers, with 200 apartments.

Other fun pools can be found here.

Awesome places!

I can't help but wonder about how they would stand up in a "shaker"? Hate to be in the pool when an 8.5 comes rolling in, yikes!

I've never been in Bombay when an earthquake took place. Do they get to 8.5? I was thinking the rain would be more of an issue. I googled "earthquake in Mumbai" and most that are reported are 5 to 6.5. Wiki is no help, but here's the link anyway http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mumbai

I just happen to know the building. The thread I linked has a discussion on how the Internet got the buildings mixed up. Bandra Ohm Residential Tower hasn't been built yet.

There's train tracks many blocks away from my place, and it's really unnerving to feel the whole building trembling from the vibration of the trains. I can't imagine what an earthquake would do to the foundation.
San Francisco in 1989 had a 7.2 and it collapsed the highways. What I still remember is that the residential area that was built on fill - the houses all just sunk in the earth, people had to go upstairs to their second floor or attic to get out of their house.

The first 3 are 1989 in San Francisco

How terrifying would it have been to be in one of these apartments

The Bay Window that crushed the car used to be a full story up - the ground story sank into the earth

2009 in Shanghai

1999 in Taiwan
