You know, if you jumble the letters in "Elvis", you get "Lives"

If you jumble the letters in "Presley", you get "Slerpey".

Conclusive proof that he's not only alive, but working at a 7-11!!!

Quote from Priscilla
"In my heart, no,” she replied when asked if there will ever be another performer like Elvis. “He was one-of-a-kind. He had it all. He was a very special human being and I think that’s one of the reasons why you see what you see out there today at the vigil; people recognize that.”

I love Elvis!!! I really want to do some Drag King Elvis impersonation, 'cause I really feel his music resonates deep within... he was such an amazing person and sooo talented. Genuine person, you can tell through his music and performing throughout his lifetime...he is not dead, he passed on his love and now we are still in love with Elvis! Xo! ;)

Yeah right....Elvis is most definatly DEAD....if the lethal concoction of drugs he was taking did not kill him
his cholesteral would have.....thats what you get when you scoff down on deep fried peanut butter and bananna sandwhiches like they are pistachio nuts....just look at the pics of him before he died...massively over weight and sweating profusely during his shows.

Elvis is most definatly dead.

Yep, he wasn't much of a musician & Johnny Cash cared less for his singing.
So you're disregarding his opinion and putting words in the mouth of a dead man...classy.

And your quote does pretty much say that given a choice of listening to Elvis singing along with his guitar playing or just listening to the guitar, JC'd take the guitar alone.
Actually what I quoted "pretty much" says that JC would prefer to hear Elvis without his band.

Accept that people have different ideas as to what "good" is in any endeavor and what constitutes expert opinion on a topic.
I accept differences of opinion. However, I will call out blatant trolling.

Elvis was killed by a prescription drug interaction causing anaphylaxis causing him to choke on his own tongue as he tried to breathe through a constricted airway. In fact he bit a large portion of his own tongue off trying to breathe when he collapsed, choking in the bathroom. He woke up, unable to breathe...went to the bathroom...which is what almost all choking victims do. He was taking prescription medications, that he had been lawfully prescribed, that he had become addicted to over years of Doctor's giving him the prescriptions that he craved. If he would have died today his Doctor would certainly face a manslaughter conviction.

As for his weight, he was 6 feet tall, and weighed 260 lbs when he died...certainly overweight (around 60 lbs)...but not massively overweight.

Wasn't a song writer at all. Wasn't much of a musician or actor. Was a ho-hum singer. But man was he an entertainer.
Elvis...a ho-hum singer? Really? I wonder then, why, before the existence of all the mass marketing and self-promotion opportunities of the internet, tv etc, along with the population explosion in the last 30 years, that...... "Elvis Presley, who is listed as the highest-selling individual artist based both on sales claims and certified units"..... is listed as so.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_best-selling_music_artists

A ho-hum singer? Listen to a few less known examples and tell me he's ho-hum:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58H9lIemX34

Has anyone ever come close to the vibrato and ranging of Elvis's rendition of White Christmas?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6h0otRDNjG4

Or take the soundtrack from just one of his movies...say.."Kid Galahad" with Charles Bronson....and try to tell me anyone ever in popular culture could hold a candle to his voice.

You might be of the opinion that the sky isn't blue, but most people who've seen the sky would disagree.

And Johnny Cash criticizing Elvis's singing? That's like the tarnished brass ring telling the polished gold ring that it's not shiny enough. (JC could sing low...but that's all he could do..he always sounded like an old man singing).

Elvis, greatest singer of all time. Period. He could sing ANYTHING!!!!! Any type of music. My opinion...and the same opinion has been shared by more others than any other singer, ever.

i have all ways enjoyed Elvis singing .. He sang a wide range of different songs in the later part of his life .. and the funny thing is he only ever got an award for his gospel songs .. which were some of his bis best work and which he all way sang.

AS for why he was big He obviously had charisma , but more important in the entertainment business is promotion , all done by Colonel Parker who ripped off Elvis at every turn .. His manager made $100 million, over twice as much as Elvis made in his Carrie and when Elvis dies . he was all most bankrupt... It toke Prassila and bunch of law suits and opening Graceland to the public to save the Elvis legacy..

Elvis very seldom sang an original song ,,most were songs from other artist of the day He just sang it better and had good back up bands .. Later there were some song wrote for him ,The movie song ,,, and song tracks were all he did for 7 years in the 60's and some of those he was not even happy singing .. but they keep his carrier alive .. along with a few new released singles and his gospel albums ..

When he did the live TV come back show in 68 that started him in the new direction which saved his carrier and killed his marriage:confused:

Odd, he made is rise in the days of Payola where radio play and placement on the record sales charts were bought with kickbacks from the recording industry. Actual sales figures of artists recordings released to the public were regularly fabricated numbers. If you look at the explosion of recording artists in the 1950's and listen to their recordings, there really is nothing special about Elvis' singing. It was his skills as an entertainer that gave him the longevity to rack up the record sales numbers stretching into the era after Payola.

People went to see Elvis' shows in the later '60's & the '70's for much the same reason they go see the current concerts by The Who & the Stones when touring, they are great spectacles but more importantly, a cultural touchstone from their youth. You last long enough in the entertainment industry & people come to see you just because you have been around for so very long. It says great things about one's talents as an entertainer to have such a long career in pop music where most successful artists only have one or two songs make it in their career before being tossed on the dust heap.

No, just responding to the young folk that have no understanding of how the world of business and entertainment worked before there was an internet. To suggest that there was no mass market before there was an internet is just silly.
Reading your posts on this thread, you come across as "to suggest an idea that isn't aligned with mine is just silly". And you make sure you say it over and over. And over. And over. No other idea is possible, because those people just dont get it like you do right? perhaps the mods can lock this thread lest anyone have an idea of things that doesn't agree with PeaceGuy. We wouldn't want you to have to correct the masses yet again now would we? Gosh, it must be tiring for you...

The internet you have won will be delivered shortly. Please stand by. It's awesome. But you already know that; I'm sure you've won others. You must be very proud...

Different folks, different strokes...............always enjoyed his music, as long as I didn't have to watch him sing, whether live, on T.V. or in the movies. Hell, didn't even like his acting when he wasn't singing, but his music.........still do enjoy it.
