I'm sorry but this is so wrong on so many levels.
If what you said was true then people would be complaining about it on larger forums like Terb, which they don't. Why? Because absolutely NOBODY obfuscates the price. Because it helps no one. I can't believe I have to spell this out but okay.
First, about your points:
- "Most independent providers charge similar rates." Firstly, if everyone obfuscates the price, how the hell would anyone know this to be true? Secondly, this is demonstrably false because I just checked a few prices here on perb, and they ranged from below $200 to over $1,000. Did you seriously think there's no range in the market? Of course there is. But I wouldn't have known for sure if everyone obfuscated prices like you did.
- "costs vary, provider rates change (more often up, but maybe down)" So what? The fact that a reviewer essentially takes a snapshot in time of someone's rate doesn't mean it can't change. You think Amazon locks in their price when someone adds it to their wishlist? You think everyone expects everyone else to look exactly the same as they did in a photo? No one cares that things change. Today it costs $200, next week it's $300. How is that misleading? That's the nature of the free market.
- "costs are based on what you want." Again... so what?? I'll reiterate that on the larger counterpart of Terb, people routinely ask and answer about extras. Sometimes they post screenshots of provided menus, for convenience. "+40 for cim", etc. You don't need to break down every little thing, but it's helpful to say "Damage: $300" or even "Damage:$300 + tip" if you really want to be discreet. In the case that you don't know, then it's fine... that's totally fine.
- "If people want to know prices they could reach out to the provider" Sure... or, you know, you could be helpful and just fucking say it? I'm sure the providers don't want to have to field 50 more inquiries on the same god damn question. So by "helping" perb members (which you're not actually doing) you're also potentially inconveniencing the provider.
I can appreciate that you probably had the interest of the community in mind, but let me be unequivocal... the lack of transparency is never helpful. It is only ever unhelpful.
By being transparent about prices:
- Consumers can make more informed decisions (prices change? Ok, well at least I know now, and I can decide if I'll continue)
- Consumers don't waste their time, OR the time of the SP, in cases where the price is a factor that determines ineligibility (namely, when it's outside one's budget)
- Consumers are better protected — they know whether they're being misled. Yes of course prices change, but you don't typically see an overnight jump of 2x or 3x. So there's a slight additional layer of accountability which can protect consumers. It's just providing more information.
So if you want to obfuscate the price, why stop there? You may as well obfuscate everything else:
- Scheduled Length of Visit: ⏳⏳
- Donation: 💲💲💲
- Approximate age of Companion: 👩

Clearly you have a bone to pick with this type of information. Like okay sure you can talk about consumer support, but this industry goes both ways and honestly I don't care that much about that side of it since
1) Consumers are always going to try to get deals and better prices (thats the nature of a free market)
2) I think it is just as important to protect providers than consumers since they take a lot of risk in this industry and I don't see it as my place to air out their details that they have not made public
In hindsight maybe I should have/could have provided specifics... but I don't think it necessary. MY review was focused on speaking to the experience I had, not whether or not it cost $200, $300, $400 or $1000000. You want transparency on prices, that is up to the provider, don't want to waste your time asking.....then don't ask no one is forcing you. When I post a review about my experience, the experience is what should determine interest (cost afterwards). If I wrote a horrible review but the cost was super low would that influence if people said yes to reaching out....no it wouldn't. My review focused on my experience because that is what REALLY matters. If you are doing this with your wallet first...then why bother reading the body of a review, just look at prices (or go to ads that have prices) and don't interact on here).
I am not saying misleading consumers doesn't happen...but "thats the nature of the free market" you can't have it both ways.
Also your obfuscating to other things is an absurd extreme. There are many ads that don't list price, I say an hour because that gives context to the body of my review (in what happens in an hour), age tells people a aspect that for some is a real issue. The Price amount honestly comes second and I don't care to share information that is reachable to potential consumers if they contact the actual provider. If you want to wage a culture war for reviewers posting actual costs for services fine, but do it elsewhere as I am not changing my review and all this was was jumping into a thread complaining about a practice on the website and being absurd with a "where does it end" example. People actually talking about their experiences (good or bad) with a provider give value to the review, you are just complaining an aspect of my review (in a rather condescending way) that shouldn't be the focus of the review...the actual experience should be. If you want the focus to be on the money... start a forum that looks like a stock market. I value reviews that speak to experience over cost, and I will continue to be that way.

I have heard really good things, and her reviews are pretty solid, but like the other person said she isn't really super active (which is valid if she has her bookings filled all the time). Maybe someday might give her a try if I catch the right time
