Hello Everyone! I live in the United States and enjoy hobbying in Canada, as I feel there is less likely a chance of being arrested, as compared to here in the USA. Anyway, my question is what is the cheapest/easiest cell phone plan to use in Canada? My phone plan doesn't work in Canada, only the USA. I know here, you can go to Walmart buy a flip phone by Tracfone that uses Verizon's lines. Is there something simple and cheap there in the Vancouver area that allow you to remain anonymous and still get service. I don't want to depend on wifi for my hobbying, if I need to trade texts back and forth. Thank you in advance for all replies. Have a great day!

You can bring your American flip phone here to a local Walmart or others and buy a cheap prepaid plan. They ask for name, DOB and email but not ID so you can tell them whatever just make sure the email is legit and to remember details if you get locked out or whatever.

Thanks, Newb808, that is very helpful. Just looking for any easy way to hobby and be as anonymous as possible. Next time I go to Canada, I will get a sim card and get a plan. Thank You! :)

Chatr is great. Just walk into London drugs. Their tech guys are very cool. Give a bogus name and dob. Make a new email to use. I was paying $30 monthly. They even bumped me upto 50gb of data on some special promotion. They run on Rogers system. I downloaded apps np. Fucking great.

I use Chatr and picked the yearly plan $100/yr with 400 text (I forgot how many minutes for call), and set a reminder on the phone when it is time to renew next year. Easy and no headache.

They also have the $150/yr plan with 30 GB data.

I found the $150/Year plan on Chatr's website. So far, that looks like the best deal, as I would prefer to pay for a few months (or in this case, a full-year) rather than doing month to month. I prefer to do everything in cash to stay anonymous and not being able to get to Canada every month, I would have to get a new plan and number each time I go to Canada would be very inconvenient. So glad you guys were able to help me. Thanks, again, to everyone who responded, as I really appreciate the input and ideas!!! As always, stay safe out there, fellas! :)

Not sure how well this will meet your ability to remain anonymous and I haven't tried it in Canada, so I'm not positive it will work for you, but since you referenced Tracfone, I thought I would offer this.
I have a phone with Tello.com in the US with a $5/month plan with 1GB data and 0 talk minutes per month. I use it mostly on wi-fi at home so I don't use much text/data. They have a pay-as-you-go feature I can use for roaming in the US and international roaming in Canada for 0.05/min, 0.01/SMS, 0.01/MB.

Hi Nopey. I have looked at Tello and other MVNOs here in the USA. The problem is most of the them only work in the USA and/or don't allow you to sign up anonymously. I realize using wifi to communicate is probably better for anonymity, as you can't be tracked by the cell towers (and this is the method I use here in the USA, as I keep my phone on airplane mode 24/7). However, for hobbying in Canada, I feel it will be easier to text back and forth without worrying about a finding a wifi signal, especially if I need to try to find where I am going. Thank you for the input, though, I really do appreciate it! :)

You're welcome. Wi-fi only worked for making appointments, but failed for me if I needed to text upon arrival. I gave up a couple years ago and started going to Swan Lake where I can just show up. Age doesn't bother me since I'm old. Tello later added roaming in Canada but I don't need it anymore. Good luck finding your solution and remaining anonymous.

I have never been to Swan Lake, but I have heard lots of great things about it. If you get tired of SL, another place in Richmond is Atlantis Spa (address is 8080 Leslie Road). Their website says walk ins are welcome. One of these days, I will need to try out SL. Have a great weekend! :)

Thanks. Might be worth looking into when I can't find parking near SL.
Might have to have a great weekend on Friday!
Parking right near Atlantis is tight, but if you don't mind walking a few blocks, there is plenty of parking at the Lansdowne Centre Mall. I always park at the Mall and walk to Atlantis. It seems a lot easier than fighting for parking closer to the spa. Have a great and fun weekend! :)
