HIM_Hustle
I am Marlena, a Program Coordinator at HIM - Health Initiative for Men in Vancouver, BC. I run two programs that support sex workers, HUSTLE and Transitions.
HUSTLE: An education and advocacy program for self-identified men, nonbinary, and two-spirit people in the sex industry, created and run by experiential individuals. Through HUSTLE, I distribute harm reduction supplies to HIM's Health Centres and community events and facilitate anti-stigma training workshops. I would like to begin collecting bad date reports.
Transitions: A self-exploration and pre-employment program for self-identified men, nonbinary, and two-spirit people in the sex industry who are interested in exploring personal goals or new career paths in other industries. We work with you to develop life skills, identify goals, talents, strengths, and pursue employment options that fit your needs. Through Transitions, I do one-on-one case management, referrals to groups at HIM and other organizations, and occasionally workshops. Transitions participants also have access to drop-in counselling hours reserved for them each Friday.
