18 is not illegal. For the purposes of pooning, I'm a bit fuzzy on how the law behaves.
Anyway, that was not what is was asking.

Dude, his concern is that *if* the number 18 starts to suddenly drop once you meet her... for an older gentleman, that *could* be troublesome... but a 17-19 year old guy would have no worries.

Guys 18 IS legal, but just barely so...

The legal age of consent as it stands in Canada is 14. The Conservatives want to raise that to 16, rightfully so.

But the legal age for a person to SELL sex in Canada is 18. But I would be VERY cautious on so many levels when approaching such an offer.

Such as if she is 18 and looks 18 it IS possible she could be a 16 or 17 year old drop-out selling sex as an 18 year old to maintain herself and/or her pimp (most likely the latter). And if you are caught, YOU are criminally responsible for purchasing sex (or attempting to) off a minor even if she told you she was of legal age.

Second, if she does claim to be 18, this is barely legal and a lure to many pooners. When you get to see her, usually she's anything BUT 18 and thus you were suckered into a scam by some ho who only claims to be 18.

So go by the golden rule when it comes to CL, if it looks too good to be true, it almost always is.

PD:)

... the problem with CL is that many of them have some sort of substance dependency problem... so whoever is being referred to here doesn't necessarily stand apart from the pack.

"Bait-Girls" . . . They are registered as unarmed Police Officers under Section B4540 of the code.
Two questions.
What is the source of your CBC / NFB reality television show of "Bait Girls"? Normally NFB does not fund television shows, CBC does not do reality tv shows of this sort (they stick with high-brow stuff like "Dragon's Den"). Also, since doing these types of raids are dangerous, why would it not be part of a police sting leading to arrest (like "To Serve and Protect").

What the heck is Section B4540 of the code? Which code, the Criminal Code of Canada? Since when do regulations and acts in Canada start with a letter? Yes, Peace Officers are broadly termed . . . they can be appointed by the Crown (cops, corrections, fisheries officers, special constables, etc.) or by statute (soldiers in war-time, pilots of airplanes, etc.) found in CCC Section 2. Finally, you don't need police officers as bait. Recently, Victoria Police and Liquor Control Board hired a 16 year old girl with a confiscated drivers license to enter bars and night clubs. She was definitely NOT a cop and she was within two steps of four armed police officers at all times.

Basically, thanks for putting the fear of being caught on tape, but the act of entering into a private premise, hiring a person for time spent and then happening to become more physically friendly with the 18 year old ADULT is not illegal. It would make for great blackmail material, which begs the question, what organization would but a person in harms way to get the "scoop"?

BeDaMon, are you a shrill?

To answer that question RN, legal ages are provincial laws, each province establishes and sets what the legal age may be, here in BC it is 19, can't buy booze or cigs, unless you are 19.
As for the Province of Quebec, legal age is 18, you can buy booze, buy cigs and all that at the bar, or the convienience store whatever one prefers.

Sorry, Poonmiester, but you are definitely wrong. The legal age for sex with a prostitute is 18 throughout Canada. Criminal law is exclusively within the jurisdiction of the federal government and prostitution is a criminal law matter.

Civil status and other matters within provincial jurisdiction, such as regulation of liquor sales, etc, may vary from province to province.

Sorry Ulysses, I may not have explained myself clearly, I was only refering to Provincial laws that establishes legal age for legal purposes, such as purchasing liquor, cigarettes, admission in bars, credit contracts, etc.
Nowhere do I intend implying it is applied to prostitution.
The poster was wondering why Eleganza had girls advertised as 18, my response was simply to point out that legal age starts at 18 in Quebec, as opposed to 19 in BC.
That's it, nothing more.
And I do realize that prostitiution is a Federal jurisdiction, but simply Provinces are responsible to apply these laws in which ever way they choose,
in general local law enforcement are responsible to uphold it, not the RCMP, unless it involves International human trafficing.

Sorry, but your explanation is still inaccurate. Eleganza in Quebec and, for that matter, any SP or Agency in BC (bawdy house provisions aside) can advertise an age of 18. It is a crime to have sex with an underage prostitute, that being under the age of 18 as set out in the Criminal Code. It has nothing to do with Quebec v. B.C. law.

Also, in many municipalities, the RCMP are the local police, e.g. Surrey, Burnaby, North Vancouver, Whistler. These municipalities have contracted with the RCMP to provide policing services as local law enforcement.

Are you certain of this, my understanding is that there are 2 definitions of legal age. One for areas of provincial juridiction and one for areas of federal jurisdiction.

For example, BC has set the legal age as 19. Therefore to buy alcohol or vote in BC you must be 19 years of age.

However, the Federal age of majority is 18, hence the federal voting age of 18.

It has always bothered me that a person could vote in a federal election and be conscripted into the Canadian Forces and sent to war if the government so decided. But could not have an alcoholic beverage in BC.

If I can kill and die for my country, I ought to be able to have a drink if I choose.

Just my thoughts.

I am absolutely certain that only the federal government has jurisdiction over criminal law and the Criminal Code.

Sex with an underage prostitute is a crime under the Criminal Code. Provincial law relating to the age of majority has no relevance to this issue.

Re: age of consent

The age of consent to sex is currently 14. However, that does not apply to prostitution. Purchasing the sexual services of a person between the ages of 14 and 17 is a crime, regardless of the age of consent.
