Eddie Guerraro's Death Play a Factor?

Who's Sharri Martel? I had a chance to meet Chris Benoit in Van and decided not to go,....sadly one of the biggest mistakes to be made in my current retrospect. He was a sound technical wrestler, and truely held a passion for the sport (reminds me of a young Arn Anderson in the looks department). Chris Benoit was and will always be remembered as a well respected, passionate wrestler, to all WWE fans that watched him wrestle; despite, whether or not these claims of him commiting suicide and taking the lives of his wife and child are found to be true.

You don't see sound technical wrestlers anymore (Bret Hart, Angle, Jericho, Malenko, and arguably Ric Flair have more or less disappeared) which is a shame really, because there were always those cool finishing moves and setup moves where even if fake they still looked pretty damn cool (Texas Cloverleaf, The Sharp Shooter, Crippler Crossface, Figure Four Leg Lock) as opposed to an atomic leg drop or something. Anyways, Benoit was one of the only technical wrestlers left in the WWE and the sport will suffer without them.

Eddie Guerraro's death must have had, and continued to have an impact on Benoit's life after Guerraro passed on. Keep in mind for 15 years these guys were closer than an average family, kinda like a military band that goes to war only those in your band can understand you. Your family, friends, coworkers, can't even begin to relate to what you've been through, and start to seem like strangers, and next thing you know, so does the rest of society. Benoit may have realized this and just snapped. Think about it, you work in an industry that consumes your life 365 days of the year, your on the road for 2-3 weeks at a time, barely get a chance to see your family, your relationships will eventually change.

To the Rabid Wolverine, The Crippler, Pegesis Kid, (former member of the 4Horseman?) Chris Benoit we'll miss you bro!! Thank you for the memories.

I applaud World Wrestling Entertainment for taking down all of Chris Benoit's tributes from www.wwe.com, like I thought they will erase him from memory and not promote any future DVD's with him in it, I think Dave Meltzer of wrestlingobserver.com said that they plan to take all Chris Benoit matches off any future DVD's they sell, I'm shocked that he would kill his wife and his 7 year old son, Chris Benoit may have been a excellent wrestler if not the best, but after these senseless murders he will be rememered for that only.

this might sound bad but i can imagine any guy jacked up on drugs fighting with his woman and snapping. sometimes people get in each other's face and physical brutality follows (it ain't right but it happens). but to kill your kid? that sickens me. i always thought benoit was one of the nicer guys, especially because he wasn't conceited or arrogant. i'm still disturbed about him killing his son. i'd sacrifice 6 billion people to protect my son, i can't ever imagine doing something like that to him.

Roid rage does not last the entire weekend...

killings and suicide were spead out over 3 days, thats a fucked up tormented head that did that !

more issues than just the steroids here...

this might yet again open up that can of whoopass on Vince and his doctors on staff about perscription medication(supplying his wrestlers with steroids)...they'll come down hard on him this time !

Yeah, I really don't understand who could resort to killing their 7 year old kid. I am sure he will forever be remembered as a murderer.

He won't make the WWE hall of fame. The sad thing that is he's gonna be remembered as a Psycho MURDERER! Pretty well like OJ but he's still alive.

If a guy strangles his wife and kid he has to be an extremely sick human being. I know I'm gonna sound like a bleeding heart but this man needed help.

Vince McMahon was on ECW on Sci Fi Network tonight before the show began, basically saying sorry for airing the tribute to Benoit last night, and also saying that WWE would pretty much never mention Mr. Benoit in his words again. And true to the WWE they didn't mention him at all and the fans never chanted Benoit's name, WWE Champion John Cena wrestled ECW Champion Johnny Nitro to open the show, and CM Punk wrestled Elijah Burke in a real good match.

Geez!!

For those of you who are going to miss him, well it tells me the type of person you are:rolleyes: .
I think it so truly very sad when an individual takes other's with him. He should have just done himself in and left his LITTLE BOY! and his wife to get on with their lives. it was pure selfishness.
I hope if what the news says that he killed his family he rots in hell!!
That child never asks to be born, or asks for such a short taste of life!
The crime is just horrendous!

i'm not one to play devil's advocate. because i prefer bubble bobble...but what if the family emergency that led to benoit skipping the sunday PPV was his wife murdering their son.

benoit comes home, sees what his wife has done, the "roid rage" kicks in. when he settles down he realizes what he's done, and in his grief he goes and hangs himself.

seems like all the evidence is pointing to him though

not possible

It says his wife was killed first then his son, then took his own life. This is the most bizarre thing i have ever heard,i feel sorry for his poor little boy he didn't do anything to deserve this, and to hear the commentators yesterday talk about how well behaved he was, always dressed up in his little suit and polite, saying yes sir no sir, almost brought tears to my eyes.I can't imagine what caused him to snap.

I agree roid rage wouldn't send you on a 3 day rampage, and it probably wouldn't ever make you want to kill your child. That sounds more like a sign of serious depression or some other mental health issue.

I wouldn't say roids wouldn't have played some part though. Roids can actually make you feel quite good about yourself. When you go off the roids however things change as you have removed the external testosterone source and your testosterone levels will crash way below normal. It takes time for the body's natural test production to kick back in. Steroid users enlist the aid of other drugs to help get natural test levels back sooner. Low test levels will leave you feeling depressed (that's why they treat andropause with test), it's the polar opposite of roid rage.

I would think that professional wrestlers might abuse steroids like no other group does such as athletes or body builders. Normally you cycle steroids and try to do as few cycles as you can get away with to give your body rest and let it recover natural test. I would bet many wrestlers do roids on a year round basis as their schedules don't give them any down time. While I don't think steroids are completely evil like many do, doing them year round is and you will eventually pay the price. There is a good chance you could mess up your HPTA (creates and regulates test/hormone leves) permanently.

What I am saying is that after 20 years of non stop steroid abuse Benoit could very likely have been a hormonal basket case, and hormones can have a major impact on your emotional state.

Great Canadian?????

The latest news is that he strangled his wife and smothered his 7 year old son. He then committed suicide.

Why do these assholes always decide to take their wife and kids with them. If their life sucks so bad then just take a dive off a high bridge but leave your wife and kids alone.

If this is true he will burn in hell for it.

Great Canadian, Yep, right up there with Clifford Robert Olson.
I made that post before they released the autopsy report and i'm shocked and pretty much speechless that he would so something as twisted as this.
R U a retard? If he murdered his wife and child he is a Canadian disgrace.
Hey big mouth I made that post last night before the autopsy results were released. You feel tough hiding behind a moniter??? How about sending me a pm so we can arrange a meet and greet where I can shut that big mouth of yours.

I guess the thing to do would be to wait to see what happened before you start calling someone a Great Canadian. It also might be a good idea to engage your brain before issuing threats to posters.

In an effort to entertain the booger eaters (thanks to ESPN's Colin Cowheard for that name) who watch this crap, these guys have to become more and more extreme. Crazy de-humanising plot line, hatred towards minorities, steroid abuse, human growth serum, violence towards women, and huge dollars push these performers to the edge. It's no surprise to hear the WWE promises to never mention this man again. Very covenient for them.

I agree the man must have been mentally ill. I have also heard that the innocent little boy had some sort of physical syndrome that may have caused Benoit to end his life (god I hope thats wrong), but thwe WWE can't be blameless in this. It's time people see this business for what it is. A cancer.
