I am from Toronto and use uber all the time. You can just tell them you'd prefer to pay cash and they'll just turn it off and pocket the money instead. Then they don't have to pay Uber and wait long to get their paycheck.

If that's the case, then I can see why they are losing hundreds of millions, and will never be profitable.

What incentive is there for any Uber driver to take a credit card and not just take the cash and get the full payment?

UBER has moved out of Ausin, Texas, and won't be appearing in the tech trade show (apparently) down there. It seems that they didn't feel like complying with new regulations, in addition to having a lot of bad press (robberies and assaults). In fact, there is apparently even a trending support group called "UBER Survivors" or some such. Just food for thought, but maybe something to be aware of before you start jumping on the UBER bandwagon.
